An Introduction to Intermediate (Second) Series of Ashtanga Yoga

Explore the postures of Ashtanga Second Series. Incredible backbends, energizing twists, deep hip opening poses combined with graceful arm balances.

Nadi Shodhana is the traditional name for the Intermediate or Second Series of Ashtanga Yoga. It refers to the results of the practice, the purification and strengthening of the nervous system and the energetic areas, which underlie the physical form. Each week in this workshop/class style the series will be introduced and practiced, with the coordinating vinyasas. This will give practitioners/teachers an opportunity to ask questions and look at key actions that integrate the back and front of the body, develop strength and alignment that allow the practice to develop into a flowing manner.

This is an unique opportunity to deepen your practice and experience the Ashtanga practice from a wider perspective.

Stretch… Yin Yoga Workshop

Yin yoga is slow, passive practice where postures (asanas) are held for a long duration, allowing the body to slowly release tension. With yin yoga, we are applying moderate stress onto the connective tissues of the tendons, fascia, and ligaments to improve circulation in the joints and improve flexibility.

Yin yoga, based on Chinese Medicine helps improve the flow of Qi, the subtle energy that runs through the meridian pathways of the body, which helps improve organ health, immunity and emotional well-being.

Marianne will guide students through this relaxing session accompanied by soothing music!

A Walk In the Park
Led Primary Series & Walking Meditation

In this invigorating class, practitioners are guided through the traditional sequence of the Primary Series, from sun salutations, through standing, seated postures, to back bends and closing postures in a flowing manner.  After meet us at Rattlesnake Point, for a Walking Meditation at Rattlesnake Point.  Rattlesnake Point receives its name from the snake-like path cut by glaciers along the edges of the Niagara Escarpment, rather than from the Timber Rattlesnake.  It is located in Milton Ontario and is a popular destination for hikers, backpackers, cyclists, rock climbers and nature lovers in the Greater Toronto Area.

A walking mediation is a way to give ourselves a break that refreshes while deepening our understanding, of ourselves and our connection to all that is around us.  As we become more aware of these experiences  and sensations, our mind becomes more focused and calm, allowing us to live in equanimity with the unavoidable ups and downs of life.

  • Regular class fees apply for the Led Class, no preregistration is required. The Led Primary Series class will be at BYC.
  • Regular park entrance fees apply for Rattlesnake Point, preregistration is not required however is suggested. We will be meeting at 1:30 at Rattlesnake Point park entrance.
  • If you are able to car pool please let us know.
  • Please note that you do not need to take the Primary Series class in order to join us for this informal Meditation Walk.
  • Please be aware that walking on your hands is okay
