  • yahoo.ca coordinated an event last weekend called “Canada Loves Yoga.” This was Canada’s first free synchronized nationwide yoga session! Funds raised went to New Leaf Yoga Foundation, whose mission is to empower youth through yoga. Our very own David G co-facilitatied with Amber Jolit the session in Toronto.
    The energy of hundreds of yogi’s practicing yoga together was an amazing experience. Here is the video of the broadcast. Enjoy!

We Love Toronto – BYC’S Book Drive for the Children’s Book Bank



Don’t know what to do with some of you gently used books lying around your house. We do! Beach Yoga Cnetre is having a book drive , from March 20 to April 19 at BYC for The Children’s Book Bank. Next time you come to class you can drop off your gently used children’s books at our drop box in our reception area and we will handle the rest.

Let’s invest in our future leaders by helping them develop a lifelong love of reading!

The Children’s Book Bank is a charitable organization that provides free, gently used books to children in low-income neighbourhoods in the Toronto area. The Children’s Book Bank gives children a chance to build their own treasured libraries and to develop a lifelong love of reading. 
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
• Children’s books for kids aged birth to 12 years old.
• Children’s books printed within the last ten years, so a print date of 2006 – present.
• Children’s books in new or gently used condition, meaning no missing covers, torn pages, or pages
with colouring/writing on them. * A great rule of thumb – if you would gift the book to a child, then it would be a great book for our use.

Enjoy Your Journey: An Ashtanga Weekend



Follow the Path of Vinyasa
Friday 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Vinyasas are the synchronizing of breath with movement and are the essence of Ashtanga Yoga.  In this workshop the essential technique of breath and movement and how it applies to the internal principles of the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga system will be explored.  Specific movements will be practiced and explained opening a doorway to a new level of awareness and understanding of actions and alignment, and the Vinyasa system in Ashtanga Yoga and how it can deepen your practice. This workshop will bring light to habits created unconsciously throughout your yoga practice and will provide movements and solutions to ensure the progression of the fluidity of vinyasas.

 

Back Bends
Saturday 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm
Backbends are tremendous postures and one of the most exhilarating asanas to practice.  They develop flexibility, strengthen and increase the range of motion of the spine, and bring greater freedom of movement to the entire body while inspiring self-confidence, courage, and vitality. They can also challenge us to accept our limitations and use them as a guide to move deeper by unlocking an inner intelligence. In this workshop, we will focus on the actions needed to safely move deeper in these asanas and add dimension intelligence to your backbends.

2017 Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome



BYC’s Blythe will make sure everyone is warmed up for the 2017 Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome on Sat May 13 at 10:00. This annual event draws energy and power to the healing component of yoga and walking in the balance of mental health and physical wellness. Please come out and support the cause!

Intro to Yoga Workshop



This course is designed to introduce new students to the physical practice of yoga. A smaller class size allows for more individual attention, detailed instructions, adjustments and questions.This 4 week absolute beginner workshop is recommended for those who are new to Yoga

International Yoga Day



June 21 is the Summer Solstice in Toronto. As well, June 21 was declared as the International Day of Yoga by the United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 2014. The declaration came after the call for the adoption of 21 June as International Day of Yoga by Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.

On Wed June 21, come celebrate with us the gift that keeps on giving, Yoga. All classes scheduled that day will be free.
